Yes. The core features are free to use (as of July 2026, every feature is free). In future we may offer some features as a paid plan, or show adverts. We'll say so in advance if we do.

As of July 2026, no. We may show adverts in future to keep the free tier viable. Even then, photos, videos and diary entries are encrypted on your device, so by design their contents can never be used to target advertising.

iPhone and iPad (iOS 17 or later). It isn't available on Android phones or on computers.

No. Photos and videos are encrypted on your family's devices before they're stored, and the decryption keys are never held on our servers, so we can't see the contents either. We don't sell data to anyone.

Yes. Adding children or pets is optional, so it works well for two people sharing plans, chores, wish lists and memories.

In the app, go to Family settings → Invite, create an invite code and share it with your family. Codes have a time limit and a maximum number of uses. Joining a family group is by invitation only, and nothing is published outside the group.

Yes. Once they join the family group with an invite code, they can comment and react on photos, videos and diary entries. For sections like the childcare records, the admin can adjust what each member sees.

As many as you like, of either — and you can use the app without adding any.

Photos and videos are encrypted on your family's devices before they're stored (end-to-end encryption). This is always on; there's no setting to turn it off. Family groups are invitation-only, so nothing is shared beyond the family.

No. Decryption keys are only ever distributed to approved family devices and are not stored on our servers, so even we cannot turn the encrypted photos and videos back into images.

Location data is removed before encryption by default. It is only kept if you explicitly choose to keep it.

A family calendar for shared plans, chore and to-do requests, wish lists, shared photos, videos and diary entries, one-tap childcare records (feeds, sleep, nappies, temperature), growth charts, allergy notes for starting solids, and widgets for the lock screen and Apple Watch. Each family chooses which parts to use.

Log feeds, breastfeeding, sleep, nappies and temperature quickly with one hand. Height, weight and other growth measures can be reviewed as charts. There's also an allergy note with about 120 common first foods built in (a note for your household, not a diagnosis).

Yes. Go to Settings → Delete account and data in the app, and you can export your data before deleting anything.

You can delete your account from Settings → Account in the app. After deletion, photos and videos are permanently removed following a 30-day grace period.

Use "Forgotten your password?" on the sign-in screen and reset it with a code sent to your registered email address.

Yes. Kazoku Nikki is a free download from the App Store. If you were already using it, your account and data carry over as they are.
